A day in Valle Maggia, Val Bavona, and at Robiei

Our Year in Lugano, Switzerland - Fall 2004

On September 5 we went to Valle Maggia, which then splits off into two other valleys in Bignasco. We continued in Val Bavona and then up a cable car to Robiei. This cable car is the longest in the Ticino region (the Italian speaking region) of Switzerland. It brings passergers up 1,000 more meters into the mountains. At Robiei there are 3 dams controlling the water runoff and providing electricity to the region.
